As I was researching online today I came across some very disturbing footage on the production of Foie Gras. I have known the process and cruelty involved with the making of this known delicacy however I wasn’t aware just how cruel and inhumane the process was until now.
As noted on the PETA website
To produce “foie gras” (which literally means “fatty liver”), workers ram pipes down male ducks’ or geese’s throats two or three times daily and pump as much as 4 pounds of grain and fat into the animals’ stomachs, causing their livers to bloat to up to 10 times their normal size.
I have added the video below so that you can continue to spread the “NO Foie Gras” word.
Please be advised that the video you are about to watch is very graphic and contains images and sounds of animals in distress. Watch this clip and you won’t eat Foie Gras again!
I am deeply shocked after watching this footage and even more so knowing that it was produced right here in Canada (Quebec to be precise). The astonishing cruelty to our feathered friends is just horrendous. I vow never to eat Foie Gras again ~ and ask you to rethink before buying it. The business shown in this footage is still going strong and Amazon.com even stocks their products. Unbelievable.
